Knitting Comfort: Supporting Injured Military in Ukraine with Stump Socks

The Henry Project, in collaboration with The Spirit of Ukraine Foundation, recently made a significant contribution by donating 65 Stump Socks for injured militaries in Ukraine. These Stump Socks are specially crafted to provide amputees with cushioning, skin protection, and moisture absorption. By wearing Stump Socks, individuals can prevent skin irritation and breakdown, improve the fit of their prosthetic devices, and enhance overall comfort.

What makes this donation even more heartwarming is the fact that the Stump Socks were handmade by a group of knitters known as “The Happy Hookers,” based in the United Kingdom. Their efforts and care shine through in each sock, which will no doubt bring relief to those in need.

The 65 donated Stump Socks have found a deserving home at The Rehabilitation Galychnya, a State Rehabilitation Institution in Ukraine. Established in 1999 as the Lviv Regional Center for Social, Labor, Professional, and Medical Rehabilitation of the Disabled, the center has been a beacon of hope for many individuals facing disabilities. Subordinated to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine, the center plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to those in need.

The partnership between The Henry Project, The Spirit of Ukraine Foundation, and The Rehabilitation Galychnya exemplifies the power of collaboration and compassion in making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by the Ukraine War. Through initiatives like these, we can support and uplift individuals in their journey towards healing and recovery.
